Lawyers representing Sir Michael Somare are becoming readyto launch the basiclegal salvo against his dismissal from Papua brand new Guinea''s parliament.The veteran political leader, who lost his seat in parliament last week for missing three consecutive sittings, isn''t expected to wait the national court hearing on Thursday as a result of a medical check-up.Sir Michael is petitioning the court to rule his ousting from parliament "null and void", erasing the verdict that saw him dumped from the East Sepik seat he''s held for greater than 40 years.for fivemonths before his dismissal, the person known in PNG because the Grand Chief was in Singapore recovering from three heart operations.His spokesperson and daughter, Betha Somare, told AAP her father wouldn''t be in court on Tuesday. |
