We are a UK registered charity delivering development aid in Pakistan-administered Kashmir since 1992, benefiting over 500,000 people.
We have set up a clothes & shoes collection and sorting business to generate funds for our projects in Kashmir. We are looking for buyers for our goods in Asia and Africa. All money generated by the trading subsidiary will be transferred to the charity.
The projects in Kashmir include a 50 bed Community Hospital treating 3,500 people each month offering surgical, gynaecological, paediatric, diagnostic and outpatient services on the principle of those that can afford to pay, do whilst those that cannot, receive free treatment and medicines.
We have 4 non-formal schools in remote areas where the primary school age children live too far away from public schools and therefore do not attend until they are old enough to walk 6-8 kms to school.
We construct water schemes to remote villages living in mountainous areas who do not have easy access to clean drinking water, having to walk 5-10 kms each way, 2-3 times a day to collect water to meet their needs. We build water tanks and pipe the water to the village and also teach them kitchen gardening enabling them to grow their own fruit & vegetables, now having access to water. This improves the nutrition and the household income as now they can save money on food they would otherwise have purchased.
We run 9 Vocational Training Centres for women teaching them how to sew, embroidery and other livelihood training skills such as home made jam, dried fruit, etc. We also run eye camps for the poor, sponsor students in higher education and run livelihood training in fruit grafting, budding and orchard development. |
