Chongqing Zongshen Engine Manufacture Co., Ltd is a professional manufactuer of motorcycle engines founded in 1992. In May 2003, it incorporated Chongqing Zhongshen Power Machine Co., Ltd which is lised in Shenzhen Stock Exchange (001696). It is now a large hi-tech enterprise integrating engine R&D, manufacture and sales.
Zongshen Engine employs 2,000 people, fifty percent of which have associate degrees, ten percent university degrees, and senior technical and managment qualifications.
Zongshen Engine specializes machining, engine assembling and manufacturing. Its six automatic lines can produces as many as 4 million sets each year with online inspection, flexible store, and grouping matching.
It also makes critical engine parts. It can produce nearly 4 million sets of engine cases, covers and cylinder heads, and 3 million sets of baking varnish parts. Imported cutting-edge inspection instruments, including the automatic warehouse, intelligent logistics and distribution system, Bosch synchronizde assembly line as well as flexible machining center, coordinate instrument, Testra 1100 series leak detectors, and imported spectrometers, provide a strong guarantee for product quality.
In 1995, Zongshen Engine ranked 23rd of "500 Largest Private Enterprises of the PRC" by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce and Chinese Enterprise Assessment Association. In 1998, "ZONGSHEN" became "Top 100 Trustworthy Private Enterprise Brands to Chinese Consumers". Since 2000, Zongshen Engine has received the award of "Top 50 Industry Enterprise Management Association and Machine Industry Economic Managing Academy. In August 2004, "ZONGSHEN" brand was recognized as the Most Famous Brand in China and motorcycle and engine products under the brand of "ZONGSHEN" as the Famous Brand in China. In September 2004, it received the award of "National Leading Enterprises on Quality Management".
Zongshen Engine passed the ISO9001:1994 Quality System certification in August 1998. In December 2001 it passed the renewal audit of ISO9001:2000. In August 2002, Zongshen Engine passed "CCC" certification and became the first motorcycle engine manufacturer passing such certification. In November 2003, it passed the production access inspection. In September 2004, it passed the inspection on "Occupational Health and Safety Management System" and "Environment Management System" and passed OHSAS18001:1999 and BSENISO14001:1996. In October 2004, it was chosen the modal enterprise for progressive management by Chinese Machine Industry Enterprise Association. In March 2005, it was awarded the Top 500 Enterprise in China's Machinery Industry.
Zongshen Engine's products range from 35CC to 750CC, over 130 models and 1800 varieties. According to performance of engine, they can be divided into 19 series such as horizontal engines, CG engines, CB engines, twin-cylinder series, water-cooling series, multi-valve series, balancing shaft series, scooter engine, nanometer ceramics series, tricycle special engine etc. Zongshen engine products spread all over the whole country, and are exported to about 70 countries and regions such as South American, Middle-East, Asean countries, and Africa.
In April 2004, Zongshen industrial Group entered into a comprehensive cooperation agreement with PIAGGIO & C, one of the world leading manufactures of scooters. In June 2004, Zongshen Industrial Group and Harley Davidson signed a memorandum of understanding on comprehensive cooporation. "Leading European technology helps to achieve lean manufacturing". It has established a solid foundation for strengthening Zongshen and its competitiveness in the world.
